In The Geography of Southeast Asia, Rumney discusses an area that has long been of interest to geographers and other academics. As interest in Southeast Asia has grown, particularly over the past forty years, the volume and variety of scholarly publications on the varied geographical aspects of the region have also increased. Thomas A. Rumney earned geography degrees from the State University of New York-Oneonta (B.S.-1969), the University of Illinois (M.A.-1971), and the University of Maryland (Ph.D.-1980). He is a professor of geography at Plattsburgh State University and teaches the about geography of Southeast Asia, economic geography, historical geography, and other regional geographies.
